Sewer Sentry at WEFTEC 2026: Proven Solutions for Smarter Wastewater

Sewer Sentry booth 2857 at WEFTEC 2026 showcasing stormwater inflow reduction and sewer ventilation solution

Discover how Sewer Sentry is helping utilities reduce stormwater inflow, maintain critical sewer ventilation, and build more efficient, resilient wastewater systems.

Sewer Sentry is heading to WEFTEC 2026 in New Orleans, bringing its patented approach to stormwater inflow reduction and sewer ventilation to one of the most important gatherings of water professionals in the world.

Taking place September 26–30, 2026, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, WEFTEC brings together more than 23,000 water professionals from over 100 countries to explore technologies, strategies, and partnerships shaping the future of water and wastewater management. The exhibition will take place September 28–30.

Sewer Sentry will welcome attendees at Booth 2857, within the Circular Water Economy Pavilion, where our team will demonstrate how municipalities can address an expensive but often overlooked challenge: rainwater entering sanitary sewer systems through manhole covers.

Why Stormwater Inflow Matters

For wastewater utilities, rainwater entering the sanitary sewer is more than an inconvenience.

Every gallon of stormwater that enters the collection system must potentially be pumped, transported, and treated, even though it should never have entered the sanitary system in the first place. Excess wet-weather flow can increase energy consumption, treatment costs, infrastructure stress, and the risk of sanitary sewer overflows.

Sewer Sentry’s patented manhole technology is designed to reduce stormwater inflow while maintaining the ventilation that sewer systems need. This combination helps municipalities lower unnecessary pumping and treatment demands while protecting critical wastewater infrastructure.

That mission is particularly relevant to WEFTEC’s Circular Water Economy Pavilion, which focuses on reducing waste, improving energy efficiency, lowering treatment costs, recovering resources, and creating more resilient water systems.

Reduce Inflow Without Sacrificing Ventilation

Simply sealing a sewer system is not necessarily the answer.

Proper airflow plays an important role in limiting the accumulation of hydrogen sulfide, or H₂S, a corrosive sewer gas associated with odor, deterioration of concrete and metal infrastructure, maintenance demands, and worker safety concerns.

Sewer Sentry addresses both challenges through a system engineered to reduce stormwater inflow while maintaining sewer ventilation.

The technology has also generated measurable results.

Testing referenced by Sewer Sentry from Louisiana Tech University’s Trenchless Technology Center demonstrated up to a 98.5% reduction in weep-hole leakage. In a separate passive ventilation pilot in Laredo, Texas, gas logging showed approximately 80–85% sustained H₂S reduction, with reductions of up to 95% during extreme gas events.

A Practical Approach to Infrastructure Improvement

For municipalities facing aging infrastructure and limited capital budgets, solving wastewater challenges cannot always depend on large-scale reconstruction projects.

Sewer Sentry offers retrofit options designed to improve vulnerable access points without requiring a complete redesign of the collection system. Its retrofit solution can use existing manhole frames, helping reduce installation complexity and traffic disruption.

The objective is straightforward:

Keep rainwater where it belongs. Reduce unnecessary treatment. Maintain ventilation. Protect infrastructure.

And ultimately, help wastewater utilities make existing systems work more efficiently.

WEFTEC describes this year’s conference as a place where the water community can move from challenges to real-world solutions, bringing together hundreds of technology providers alongside technical education and industry collaboration.

That makes WEFTEC 2026 an ideal setting for Sewer Sentry to meet with utility leaders, engineers, operators, consultants, municipal decision-makers, and other water professionals looking for practical ways to improve wastewater system performance.
